First Day of School ~ Aug. 2009

Well, my babies started school again on August 5th...new school, new town, new friends :-)

Honestly, I am not sure how we got here...I mean I know how I got here...but man, it has really snuck up on me...1st grade and 3rd grade. YIKES! What happened to Kindergarten and preschool??? LOL

From the moment we walked into the school, I new this was gonna be a great year! It was soooo clean and brightly colored...there were cool things posted everywhere. Right away the principle introduced himself and started cracking jokes. He is a riot!!! He makes it his business to know every kid by NAME...that's right...all 300+ of them. The cafeteria was decorated in a "Hard Rock Cafe-teria" theme and there was a karaoke stage in the room...WHAT? That's right, they encourage fun!!! And the teachers and kids can sing (at the appropriate time, of course)...they had guitars and music notes on all the walls! So cute!

These pics are from the first day orientation...they were sooooo happy to get started and meet their teachers :-) We were really blessed with some great teachers again this year and are so excited about the new school! We have an earlier "call time" in the mornings...but we also get out earlier in the afternoons too!

So far, we have loved it!!! Everyone is so super sweet...and they love parent involvement ;-) Jae's teacher has been there 25+ years and is a perfect match for him...she is very organized and neat...and he is already working on phonics, math and reading. They work on the Accelerated Reading program here (and they actually DO IT!!!)...YEAH! Jaeden has homework every night and he is so good about working on it too!

Faith's teacher is new this year...but I absolutely love her...she is a doll and she makes the kids use their manners (YEAH! reinforcement from home life). They have already begun spelling tests, writing assignments and reading...lots of reading! So we have tons of homework in 3rd grade...but that's okay!

Can't wait to see how much they grow and learn during this school year...
